Its team of experienced world-class and highly qualified specialists have a combined 75 years of industry experience in all areas of restoring, customizing, and preserving vintage automobiles, racecars, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles. Whether our customers choose partial or full restoration, our services include almost every aspect of structuring, cosmetics, mechanical, and maintenance activities. it is our goal to build and maintain strong relationships with our customers and staff.

About the Role
We are searching for a skilled Auto Body Technician to add to our team who has restoration skills and experience. You must be willing to cross-train, able to learn and be coached, and adhere to the high standards set by Dig’s Rod Shop.

Your primary job in this role will be to work on the exterior of our customers’ vehicles. This will involve restoring, replacing, or possibly upgrading a variety of auto parts. You will also spend time refinishing vehicles and preparing them to be painted. This will involve sanding and ensuring that the body of the vehicle is ready to take on a new coat of paint.

Our auto body technicians work as part of our larger customer experience team. It’s important that you are able to work well with others, and capable of demonstrating professionalism in the workplace. We offer competitive pay (starting wage ranges from $18 – $25/hr. depending on current level of experience), paid time off to use for holidays and vacation, and insurance through Colonial Penn.

Requirements and Preferences

  • Possess good, well rounded working knowledge of automobiles and best practices used in body work.
  • Understands restoration and repair and the need for attention to detail.
  • Restores vehicle according to Dig’s Rod Shop high standards.
  • Must be a self starter, have a positive attitude, and able to work independently
  • Prepares vehicles for body and custom paint work.
  • Cooperates with and assists other personnel in the prepping and restoration of vehicles.
  • Notifies management of any additional body work needed.
  • Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a high quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair and operates them in safe manner.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirators, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
  • Understands, complies with, and maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations that affect the automotive industry (e.g. hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right to Know, and others).
  • Must pass background and drug testing.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, have a flexible range of motion, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Preferred: some paint experience.
